Abstract
The results of a study aimed at evaluating the effect of processing conditions on the deposition rate of chromium-based nanocomposite coatings are presented. Regression and correlation analyses were performed to develop a mathematical model describing the influence of the processing parameters on the deposition rate. The comprehensive study showed that optimization of the processing parameters allows the deposition rate of chromium-based nanocomposite coatings to reach 2.6–2.9 μm/min. This value is substantially higher than that achieved by conventional chromium plating methods, for which the maximum deposition rate usually does not exceed 0.8–0.9 μm/min. Thus, the observed 3–5-fold increase in the deposition rate demonstrates the high efficiency and promising potential of nanocomposite technologies in this field.
