Abstract
A unified mathematical model for a dual-porosity thermoelastic Mindlin plate is established in this paper to study the dispersion and attenuation characteristics of various coupled waves due to the multiple physical field coupling effects. Based on Mindlin’s first-order shear deformation theory, the dual-porosity medium theory and the governing equations of the multiple physics fields coupling system, the dispersion and attenuation characteristic equations of coupled waves are derived. There are total six of wave modes found, which includes three kinds of inherent bending waves, two kinds of pore-coupled waves, and one kind of thermally coupled waves. Through parametric study, the influence law of the pore-related parameters, the equilibrium inertia related coefficients and the thermal conduction parameters on the dispersion, attenuation and the cut-off frequency are revealed. This study clarifies not only the form mechanisms but also the dispersion and attenuation characteristics of these coupled waves, which provides a theoretical basis for the design and optimization of multifunctional porous plate structures in the fields of vibration control, wave energy management, and high-performance sensing and activating.
期刊介绍:
Mechanics of Solids publishes articles in the general areas of dynamics of particles and rigid bodies and the mechanics of deformable solids. The journal has a goal of being a comprehensive record of up-to-the-minute research results. The journal coverage is vibration of discrete and continuous systems; stability and optimization of mechanical systems; automatic control theory; dynamics of multiple body systems; elasticity, viscoelasticity and plasticity; mechanics of composite materials; theory of structures and structural stability; wave propagation and impact of solids; fracture mechanics; micromechanics of solids; mechanics of granular and geological materials; structure-fluid interaction; mechanical behavior of materials; gyroscopes and navigation systems; and nanomechanics. Most of the articles in the journal are theoretical and analytical. They present a blend of basic mechanics theory with analysis of contemporary technological problems.
