Abstract
The process of selective catalytic reduction of N2O with NH3 vapor in an air stream over γ-Al2O3-based composite materials containing Co, Ni, Fe, Mg, Ru, and Ag compounds was studied at 523–528 K. It was found that, for composites containing Mg, Ni, Co, Fe, and Ru compounds, the introduction of NH3 vapor into the gas stream resulted in an N2O decomposition degree of 3.5–7.9%. In contrast, for Ag-containing composites, the presence of NH3 vapor led not to a decrease but to a significant increase in the amount of N2O in the gas phase. The amount of N2O in the gas phase increased by 25–86%. This effect is apparently associated with the oxidation of NH3 by atmospheric oxygen in the presence of metal-containing composites according to the reaction: 2NH3 + 2O2 = N2O + 3H2O.
