Abstract
Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is an involuntary loss of urine triggered by physical activities, coughing, or changes in body position. It affects 14% of women in France and is associated with risk factors including obesity, pregnancy, traumatic deliveries, hormonal changes, age, intense physical activity, pelvic surgeries, chronic cough and constipation, The impact on patients is significant, affecting their quality of life and leading to high healthcare costs.Diagnosis relies on questionnaires and a detailed clinical examination to distinguish between types of incontinence. The initial treatment is pelvic floor muscle training, followed by surgery if physical therapy is unsuccessful. Prevention includes maintaining a healthy weight and avoiding activities that place strain on the pelvic floor.
