Abstract
The security analysis of free-space optical (FSO) communication systems is an important field that requires further research and development efforts. By simulating these systems and implementing appropriate security measures, their security and reliability can be enhanced. This study aims to analyze the performance and security of FSO communication systems using chaotic modulation techniques, relying on advanced simulations conducted using OptiSystem and MATLAB. Although numerous studies have focused on improving the performance of FSO systems, few have addressed security aspects, particularly through the use of chaotic modulation as a cryptographic method. This study presents a comprehensive simulation model of an FSO system that uses nonlinear chaotic modulation to encode optical signals. It investigates the impact of light fog on system performance and analyzes key metrics, including the bit error rate (BER) and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). The results demonstrate that chaotic modulation significantly improves security, reduces the risk of interception, and maintains robust performance even under adverse weather conditions, compared to conventional modulation systems. This work represents a step forward toward developing more secure and reliable optical communication systems and proposes the integration of these encryption techniques into critical applications that require high levels of data protection.
