Abstract

This paper is devoted to developing methods for topological modelling of integrable Hamiltonian systems using integrable billiards. Progress is made in proving Fomenko’s billiard conjecture. Specifically, integrable generalized billiards realize three-dimensional Seifert manifolds with an arbitrary set of singular fibers of types \((p_i, q_i)\). In other words, the types of singular fibers do not in themselves obstruct the realization of a foliation by billiards. The two-dimensional base of the corresponding Seifert fibration is glued together by multisaddle (non-Bott) 2-atoms. As a consequence, a proof of the “maximal” version of Section \(A\) of Fomenko’s conjecture is obtained: billiard books realize arbitrary generalizations of Bott 3-atoms with a circle action and a base consisting of non-Morse multisaddle 2-atoms.

Russian Journal of Mathematical Physics is a peer-reviewed periodical that deals with the full range of topics subsumed by that discipline, which lies at the foundation of much of contemporary science. Thus, in addition to mathematical physics per se, the journal coverage includes, but is not limited to, functional analysis, linear and nonlinear partial differential equations, algebras, quantization, quantum field theory, modern differential and algebraic geometry and topology, representations of Lie groups, calculus of variations, asymptotic methods, random process theory, dynamical systems, and control theory.
