Abstract
Background
Chinese atopic dermatitis (AD) patients initiating dupilumab in real-world settings are not well characterized.
Objective
To describe baseline characteristics of Chinese AD patients starting dupilumab.
Methods
This was a retrospective study utilizing real-world data from the observational registry of China Type 2 Inflammatory Skin Diseases, CORNERSTONE, for AD patients initiating dupilumab.
Results
Between August 2021 and July 2022, 3960 dupilumab users were identified (age: 1–96 years, male: 58.5%). Early-onset AD was noted in 13.2%, with common anatomic sites affected being the trunk, arm, and leg. Clinical phenotypes included typical flexural dermatitis (62.1%), inflammatory (20.2%), and xerosis (15.2%). Type 2 inflammatory comorbidities were present in 50.8%, with allergic rhinitis/sinusitis, food allergy, and bronchial asthma being most prevalent. Topical corticosteroids and antihistamines often precede and accompany dupilumab. Mean Eczema Area and Severity Index (EASI) score was 13.5, Body Surface Area (BSA) affected 29.7%, and Peak Pruritus Numerical Rating Scale (PP-NRS) 7.2. Infants’ Dermatitis Quality of Life index (IDQoL), Children’s Dermatology Life Quality Index (CDLQI), and Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) scores were 16.9, 13.8, and 13.1 for patients < 4, ≥ 4–< 16, and ≥ 16 years, respectively.
Conclusions
In China, real-world AD patients initiating dupilumab exhibit a broad age spectrum and clinical characteristics, with multidimensional baseline disease burden.

Dermatologic Therapy has been created to fill an important void in the dermatologic literature: the lack of a readily available source of up-to-date information on the treatment of specific cutaneous diseases and the practical application of specific treatment modalities. Each issue of the journal consists of a series of scholarly review articles written by leaders in dermatology in which they describe, in very specific terms, how they treat particular cutaneous diseases and how they use specific therapeutic agents. The information contained in each issue is so practical and detailed that the reader should be able to directly apply various treatment approaches to daily clinical situations. Because of the specific and practical nature of this publication, Dermatologic Therapy not only serves as a readily available resource for the day-to-day treatment of patients, but also as an evolving therapeutic textbook for the treatment of dermatologic diseases.
