Abstract

The three-component reaction of 1- or 2-naphthol, p-toluidine, and 3-bromobenzaldehyde afforded 1(or 2)-[(3-bromophenyl)(4-methylanilino)methyl]naphthalen-2(or 1)-ol. The compound obtained from 2-naphthol showed antioxidant activity comparable to that of BHT in the model ethylbenzene oxidation system.
