Hypertonic Saline as Maintenance Intravenous Fluid in Diabetic Ketoacidosis.

Abstract

Introduction: Diabetic ketoacidosis is associated with cerebral edema, which, although rare, is associated with an increased mortality rate.

Case report: In this case report, we discuss the use of a hypertonic saline solution in a 42-year-old male with wild-type gliosarcoma who presented with hyperglycemia to avoid cerebral edema.
