Abstract

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a significant collection of diverse, sensor-based entities that prominently utilize various network technologies and provide great potential for these devices to be smart. It is a network of interconnected physical devices that can communicate, analyse, and exchange data over the Internet. Prolific applications in recent years have been developed by use of the IoT which has been revolutionizing various industries, and healthcare is no exception. In healthcare, the IoT has the potential to revolutionize the way patients are treated, managed, monitored, and diagnosed, also leading to efficient ways of drug discovery and development. IoT-based healthcare solutions can enable healthcare providers and patients to achieve better health outcomes and overall efficiency. The objective of this paper is to provide an overview of IoT along with its vision, architecture, challenges, and some key applications in the healthcare sector which will be beneficial for researchers for further exploration into this thrust area of research.
