The main factors that lead to a reduction in the energy of surface waves transferred to the Earth’s crust are: the different ratio of wave heights between the first and second systems, the different frequencies of their spectral peaks, the deviation of propagation directions from the opposing one, and the width of the angular distribution function of wave energy. Dependences describing the changes in transferred energy with respect to these factors have been constructed. Abstract

The generation of secondary microseisms occurs most efficiently in situations when two wave systems propagating in opposite directions are present on the sea surface.
