Abstract
Integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) is a pivotal technology for next-generation mobile networks, aiming to empower communication systems with high-precision sensing capabilities. This paper presents a monostatic ISAC system architecture that leverages joint multiplexing in the delay-Doppler (DD) and time-frequency (TF) domains to broadcast integrated signals. From this architecture, we propose a comprehensive sensing method for multiple targets. The proposed method begins with rapid estimation of integer delay and Doppler taps, followed by angle estimation using the quadratic-interpolation fast Fourier transform (QI-FFT) applied to each decoupled target. Subsequently, a refined range-velocity estimation is achieved through the novel trust region orthogonal matching pursuit (TR-OMP) algorithm. This integrated process enables accurate monostatic localization of multiple targets. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves robust noise resilience, fast convergence, and high accuracy in multi-target sensing and localization.

The IEEE Transactions on Cognitive Communications and Networking (TCCN) aims to publish high-quality manuscripts that push the boundaries of cognitive communications and networking research. Cognitive, in this context, refers to the application of perception, learning, reasoning, memory, and adaptive approaches in communication system design. The transactions welcome submissions that explore various aspects of cognitive communications and networks, focusing on innovative and holistic approaches to complex system design. Key topics covered include architecture, protocols, cross-layer design, and cognition cycle design for cognitive networks. Additionally, research on machine learning, artificial intelligence, end-to-end and distributed intelligence, software-defined networking, cognitive radios, spectrum sharing, and security and privacy issues in cognitive networks are of interest. The publication also encourages papers addressing novel services and applications enabled by these cognitive concepts.
