Abstract
OBJECTIVES
This presentation aims to explain the indications, protocol, and benefits for partial extraction therapy, in particular the socket-shield technique. It further explains the surgical approach for a socket-shield in order to optimize the outcomes in implant placement while maintaining the alveolar ridge.
METHODS
This presentation utilizes clinical case presentations to illustrate the methods for socket-shield therapy when placing implants. In addition, it incorporates a review of relevant research publications to explore current surgical techniques and evidence-based practices in addressing partial extraction therapy.
CONCLUSIONS
This presentation concludes that socket shield therapy, when used during implant placement, helps maintain the alveolar ridge and can aid in the success implant placement. It highlights the effectiveness of this technique sensitive surgical approach, allowing for favorable implant placement outcomes in patients with a compromised alveolar ridge.
IMPLICATIONS
By highlighting the surgical techniques for socket-shield therapy in order to maintain the alveolar ridge during implant placement, this presentation will help reinforce the successful outcomes of implant placement. This presentation will ultimately help promote appropriate patient care and aid in the success of implant placement while maintaining the ridge.
