Abstract
Knee dislocations and multiligament knee injuries represent a significant clinical and surgical challenge, particularly when associated with patellar tendon rupture, a rare combination with a high functional impact that may initially go unrecognized. Management of these injuries requires meticulous planning to restore anatomy, joint stability, and extensor mechanism function in order to optimize long-term functional outcomes. We report the case of a patient who sustained a knee dislocation associated with patellar tendon rupture, which was surgically managed using a two-stage approach. Current evidence in the literature is limited to case reports and small case series; therefore, no specific classification system or standardized management guidelines are currently available. Level of evidence: V (Case report).

Trauma Case Reports is the only open access, online journal dedicated to the publication of case reports in all aspects of trauma care and accident surgery. Case reports on all aspects of trauma management, surgical procedures for all tissues, resuscitation, anaesthesia and trauma and tissue healing will be considered for publication by the international editorial team and will be subject to peer review. Bringing together these cases from an international authorship will shed light on surgical problems and help in their effective resolution.
