Abstract
In experiments, the improved version of Termokoks-S technology for partial gasification of lignite is studied. The improvement is that gasification is conducted at high pressure (HP), with higher productivity. The characteristics of the resulting carbonizate and the productivity of the process are determined as a function of the temperature and pressure. Increasing the pressure from 0 to 2.0 MPa increases the productivity by almost an order of magnitude (by a factor of 8.8) thanks to significant increase in the velocity of the physicochemical conversion front. However, the processing of the coal particles is less profound, and consequently the residual content of volatiles in the carbonizate is greater. With the recommended yield of volatiles (15%) and a pressure of 2.0 MPa, the productivity is triple the maximum value at atmospheric pressure. The high-pressure version of the technology, known as Termokoks-SHP, may be used to process not only coal but other carbon-bearing materials.
