Abstract
To enhance our understanding of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) -positive nodal T/natural killer (NK) cell lymphoma and improve the early recognition and diagnosis of patients presenting with hemophagocytic syndrome (HLH) as the initial manifestation, this article retrospectively summarizes clinical data for a case of EBV-positive nodal T/NK cell lymphoma presenting with HLH at onset and reviews relevant literature. The patient, a 58-year-old male, presented with a "fever for 6 days" as the chief complaint, with the initial clinical manifestation being HLH. Despite active standard treatment, the patient died less than 2 months after diagnosis. EBV-positive nodal T/NK cell lymphoma is clinically rare and easily misdiagnosed. Most patients are diagnosed at an advanced stage. Furthermore, there is currently no standard treatment, leading to an extremely poor prognosis.
