Abstract
Single crystals of two new nickel diselenite/hydroselenite halides, (NH4Cl)[Ni2(H2O)6(Se2O5)Cl2] (1) and (RbBr)[Ni(HSeO3)2(H2SeO3)0.5(H2O)0.5] (2), were produced upon evaporation of aqueous solutions containing nickel and rubidium (ammonium) halide and selenious acid. Both structures correspond to new structure types. That of 1 is comprised of neutral [Ni2(H2O)6(Se2O5)Cl2] chains aligned into weakly bonded layers linked by hydrogen bonding. The ammonium cations and extra chloride anions reside in the interlayer space. The structure of 2 belong to the family of the so-called “layered hydroselenites” with neutral [Ni(HSeO3)2] layers decorated by Br– and linked by H2SeO3 molecules into a weak hydrogen-bonded framework with Rb+ cations filling the voids therein. Under the same conditions, no analogies have hitherto been found to the products formed in related systems containing copper, cobalt, or zinc halides.
期刊介绍:
Inorganic Materials is a journal that publishes reviews and original articles devoted to chemistry, physics, and applications of various inorganic materials including high-purity substances and materials. The journal discusses phase equilibria, including P–T–X diagrams, and the fundamentals of inorganic materials science, which determines preparatory conditions for compounds of various compositions with specified deviations from stoichiometry. Inorganic Materials is a multidisciplinary journal covering all classes of inorganic materials. The journal welcomes manuscripts from all countries in the English or Russian language.
