Abstract
In order to create new epoxy resins with flame-retardant properties, we have synthesized a chlorine-containing epoxyimide resin. The required material has been prepared in two steps. The structure of the synthesized compound has been studied by infrared spectroscopy. The resin has been used to prepare a thermally stable epoxyimide composite with flame-retardant properties. The amount of the curing agent has been optimized using thermogravimetry: from weight loss data. The optimal amount of the curing agent in the epoxyimide composite has been determined to be 20 parts by weight for 100 parts by weight of the resin. The curing process requires no cure accelerator and occurs in the temperature range 56–128°C. Under optimal cure conditions, the degree of cure reaches 96%. The thermal properties of the epoxy composite and related coatings have been studied by differential thermal analysis and derivative thermogravimetry, and some of their physicomechanical properties have been investigated. The results demonstrate that the composite material based on the synthesized chlorine-containing epoxyimide resin has good physicomechanical properties, fire resistance, and sufficiently good thermal parameters compared to an ED-20 resin-based material.

Inorganic Materials is a journal that publishes reviews and original articles devoted to chemistry, physics, and applications of various inorganic materials including high-purity substances and materials. The journal discusses phase equilibria, including P–T–X diagrams, and the fundamentals of inorganic materials science, which determines preparatory conditions for compounds of various compositions with specified deviations from stoichiometry. Inorganic Materials is a multidisciplinary journal covering all classes of inorganic materials. The journal welcomes manuscripts from all countries in the English or Russian language.
