Abstract

Two new species of Goniurellia Hendel are described and illustrated from India viz., Goniurellia gibba David & Nikhil, sp. nov. and Goniurellia minuta Nikhil & David, sp. nov. In addition to the descriptions, diagnoses and distribution of all the species of Goniurellia based on the examination of type images and original descriptions are provided. Phylogenetic analysis using morphological characters confirms the monophyly of Goniurellia with supporting synapomorphy. G. omissa Freidberg is synonymized with G. munroi Freidberg. Nucleotide sequences of mt-COI and 28s rRNA gene for G. minuta Nikhil & David, sp. nov. were generated and submitted. An illustrated identification key to all known species of the genus is included.
