Abstract
Lung cancer in Chile has historically been a disease with a poor prognosis and low visibility. In recent decades, there have been significant advances in treatment and diagnosis, such as the introduction of targeted therapies and immunotherapy, but most cases are still detected at advanced stages. Low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) has been shown to reduce mortality in high-risk populations and is the recommended method for early detection. The specific role of imaging and its appropriate indication will allow optimal evaluation of a patient who is a candidate for screening or presenting with suspected early-stage lung cancer. Currently, efforts are focused on personalizing screening and leveraging artificial intelligence to improve early diagnosis, optimizing resources and access to quality treatments.
