Did court dismiss student's Title IX harassment claims?

Abstract

Five female students in the Animal Behavior and Ecological Conservation program at Canisius College reported harassment concerns about a tenured professor. The alleged incidents of harassment arose during classes, labs, and college-sponsored travel. The students claimed the professor repeatedly breached professional boundaries, made intrusive comments, and engaged in controlling conduct. Additionally, they claimed the professor frequently discussed his dating and sex life with students, including using crude phrasing about women he found attractive, and soliciting students’ advice about his relationships. Students also reported manipulative comments that framed the relationship as parental or intimate (e.g., calling a student his “daughter,” saying he was like a student's “father,” and telling another student that they would be “very compatible” but for their age discrepancy).
