Abstract
As result of technological developments, the increasing prevalence of partner phubbing may lead to the deterioration of women's marital relationships, contribute to heightened sexual stress by undermining emotional intimacy, and disrupt family peace. The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between partner phubbing, family peace, and sexual stress among women. The study employed a cross-sectional design. Data were collected through face-to-face interviews from 343 women. The data were analyzed using SPSS 27.00. The participants' mean score on the Partner Phubbing Scale was 17.59 ± 5.77. The mean score on the Family Peace Scale was 56.90 ± 11.35, while the mean score on the Female Sexual Distress Scale was 12.31 ± 11.25. As levels of partner phubbing increased among women, overall satisfaction and family peace decreased, whereas deep distress and sexual distress increased. Partner phubbing and family peace were found to explain 31.3% of the variance in women's sexual distress. The results suggest that women's sexual distress levels are significantly associated with partner phubbing and family peace. In addition, partner phubbing appears to extend beyond the sexual domain, being linked to diminished family peace. This study, conducted within a sociocultural context where sexuality is taboo, is believed to make significant contributions to the literature.
