A comparative trial of bifonazole 1% cream and clotrimazole 1% cream in the treatment of candidal balanoposthitis.

Abstract

Summary: One hundred patients with a diagnosis of candidal balanoposthitis were treated using either Bifonazole 1% cream or Clotrimazole 1% cream on a randomized basis. Fifty patients (Group A) received Bifonazole 1% to be applied once only per day for six days, the remaining 50 received Clotrimazole 1% (Group B) to be applied twice daily for six days. Follow‐up at day 7 after exclusion, showed that 21 of 27 patients (77.8%) in Group A and 20 of 26 patients (76.9%) in Group B had negative mycology cultures.
