Abstract

Immune cells play a fundamental role in coordinating physiological processes, from early stage development through to trained host immunity. Hence, an enhanced insight into the dynamic interactions across all immune cell subsets is imperative for our comprehension of core biological concepts. In February 2025, The Company of Biologists gathered researchers in the English countryside, at Fanhams Hall in Hertfordshire, for a Workshop focusing on 'Immune Cell Interactions in Development, Homeostasis and Immunity'. The Workshop, which was organised by Philippe Bousso (Institut Pasteur, France), Gillian Griffiths (University of Cambridge, UK), Milka Sarris (University of Cambridge, UK) and Michael Sixt (Institute of Science and Technology, Klosterneuburg, Austria), covered a broad range of specialities within the scope of immune cell biology, providing an opportunity to discuss novel studies of stem cell biology, morphogenesis, cell migration, innate and adaptive immunity, and neurobiology. Here, three early-career researchers provide their perspectives on the major themes and discussion points of the Workshop.
