Abstract
Optimization on accelerating cell for separated drift tube linac (SDTL) is conducted from 2D electromagnetic analysis in the beam energy range of 100–200 MeV and resonance frequency of 350 MHz. To find the optimum cell design for maximized effective shunt impedance (ZTT) and minimized Kilpatrick number, cell parameters are swept by classifying parameters in to three groups: tank diameter, face angle and drift tube diameter, and nose parameters. It is found that there exists characteristic trend on ZTT and Kilpatrick number which is qualitatively interpreted in the view of variation of circuit parameters and electromagnetic field in the cell. Based on those characteristics, systematic process on optimizing SDTL cell is discussed.
