Abstract
A novel method for quinoline synthesis based on the interaction of propargylic alcohols with anilines in the presence of polyphosphoric acid (PPA) has been developed. It has been discovered that propargylic alcohols in a PPA medium are capable of hydrolyzing into chalcones. The use of PPA in ethyl acetate solution has been demonstrated for the first time.
