Abstract

Theoretical investigation has been made to study the formation and dynamics of modulated nonlinear electron acoustic wave (EAW) structures in superthermal dissipative unmagnetized plasmas by deriving the damped nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLSE) with the help of the standard perturbation technique. Analytical and numerical investigations explore the dynamics of bright and dark solitons, as well as breather-type solutions. The modulational instability (MI) of EAWs is analyzed, revealing the conditions under which instability occurs and how it influences the formation of localized wave structures such as bright solitons, dark solitons, and breathers under various physical regimes. We examine the role of plasma parameters, including the hot electron superthermality, hot-to-cold electron density ratio, collision frequency, in modifying the characteristics of the instability and the nonlinear wave modes. These findings may provide new insights into the behavior of EAWs in space and laboratory plasmas, where superthermal distributions and collisions are prevalent, and suggest potential applications in plasma physics, and other areas where similar wave phenomena arise.

The Brazilian Journal of Physics is a peer-reviewed international journal published by the Brazilian Physical Society (SBF). The journal publishes new and original research results from all areas of physics, obtained in Brazil and from anywhere else in the world. Contents include theoretical, practical and experimental papers as well as high-quality review papers. Submissions should follow the generally accepted structure for journal articles with basic elements: title, abstract, introduction, results, conclusions, and references.
