Abstract
Arthritic and degenerative deformities and reduced mobility are common problems in patients with rheumatoid diseases. Mainly the fore- and hindfoot are affected, in the area of the hindfoot with massive destructions, inflammatory reactions along the long tendons and bursae, in the forefoot often with massive deformities, inflammatory reactions in the plantar bursae, the capsules and tendons, dislocation or subluxation of the joints. The aim of all treatments is to retain mobility for the patient to give them the highest chances for participation and in a normal life. The treatment by with foot orthotics with it́s offers a large variety of options including foot orthoses (insoles), special shoes for rheumatoid patients and in the endpoint of deformities the fitting of custom-made orthopaedic shoewear.
