Abstract
The work proposes a method for designing reference motion trajectories for a tetrahedral satellite formation operating on a highly elliptical orbit. The main goal is to define such initial conditions of satellite motion that allow the tetrahedron to preserve its volume. The algebraic technique is presented that guarantees the conservation of the volume in linear motion approximation. The presented technique is also applied to maintain a shape of the formation.
