Abstract

At a family medicine residency program in southeast Georgia, a nurse practitioner–led group intensive lifestyle medicine program was initiated to address obesity and cardiometabolic conditions. The results of this pilot showed improved biomarkers for participants 3- and 6-months post program completion. The lifestyle medicine project also showed feasibility, fiscal sustainability, and patient satisfaction with the program. This article describes the project’s implementation and impact, as well as highlight the pivotal role nurse practitioners play in primary care through delivery of lifestyle medicine.
