Abstract
The message to substance use disorder (SUD) treatment providers is that they should not allow their patients to smoke. This message has been conveyed by public health authorities for years (see ADAW https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/adaw.20187), but a research study now supports linking smoking cessation with SUD care. It's not a matter of banning smoking – it's a matter of encouraging smoking cessation.
