Abstract

Objectives: This study aimed to adapt the Assessment of Survivor Concern Scale to Turkish and test its validity and reliability in gynecological cancer survivors.

Methods: This methodological study was conducted with 76 gynecological cancer survivors. During the adaptation phase of the Assessment of Survivor Concern Scale, the scale was first translated into Turkish and then culturally adapted. Next, the construct validity of the scale was evaluated by confirmatory factor analysis. The reliability of the scale was tested using Cronbach's alpha internal consistency coefficient, item-total score correlation coefficients, and intraclass correlation coefficients.

Results: It was determined that the Assessment of Survivor Concern Scale consisted of five items and two subscales. In the confirmatory factor analysis, the fit index values of the scale showed a good fit in general. The Cronbach's alpha internal consistency coefficient of the scale was found to be 0.83, its intraclass correlation coefficients of the scale were above 0.70, and its item-total score correlation coefficients varied between 0.53 and 0.72.

Conclusion: The Turkish version of the Assessment of Survivor Concern Scale is a valid and reliable instrument for assessing the worry levels of gynecological cancer survivors.

Implications for nursing practice: Assessment of Survivor Concern Scale can help assess worry levels in survivors of gynecological cancers. This makes it possible to identify survivors with high worry levels and provide them with personalized counseling and psychosocial support.
