Abstract

In her book Mott Street: A Chinese American Family's Story of Exclusion and Homecoming (Penguin Press, 2023), Dr. Ava Chin illuminates the impact of the Chinese Exclusion Act through the lens of her family's experiences. A fifth-generation Chinese American New Yorker, she is currently working on another project, which will further explore the enduring impact of Chinese Exclusion on generations of individuals in New York City's Chinatown, with a particular focus on the 1950s through the 1970s.
