Abstract
Technology use in the presence of partners is a common occurrence, with the connection it may have on communication and satisfaction in romantic relationships still being explored. An Actor–Partner Interdependence Mediation Model was run with a sample of 103 heterosexual couples to explore the mediating role of demand–withdraw patterns on partner phubbing and couple satisfaction for both male and female partners. Results indicated significant mediation present for both men and women, impacting their own satisfaction and that of their partners. Clinical implications are discussed, focusing on the relational impact of the findings for practitioners.
