Due to the high incidence of adverse drug reactions (ADRs) associated with certain medications and the heterogeneity of drug responses among patients, pharmacogenetic testing has gained significant attention. Research has shown that many clinicians, including nurse practitioners (NPs), have limited knowledge and experience with pharmacogenomics and pharmacogenetic testing, highlighting the need for enhanced education in this area. Using pharmacogenetic information, NP can tailor medication regimens to personalize treatments to individual genetic profiles to improve results and reduce ADRs.
