Abstract

PULMONARY HYPERTENSION ASSOCIATED WITH CHRONIC LUNG DISEASES. Pulmonary hypertension is commonly observed in chronic respiratory diseases. It is responsible for a worsening of quality of life and a decrease in patient survival in the short and medium term. As in all other types of pulmonary hypertension, the formal diagnosis is based on data from right heart catheterization. It's regard as severe if the pulmonary vascular resistance is greater than 5 Wood units. It is only in such a condition that specific treatment should be discussed within a pulmonary hypertension centre.
