Abstract

Tyletelmis is currently an exclusive Amazonian genus, known only from its type species Tyletelmis mila Hinton, 1972, and represents one of the last taxa described by the renowned entomologist H. E. Hinton. This genus is one of the 12 remaining monotypic genera of Neotropical elmids and has not been taxonomically studied since its original description. Here, we present a review of Tyletelmis, in which the genus and its type species are redescribed, and four new species from Brazil are described: Tyletelmis assai sp. nov., Tyletelmis pupunha sp. nov., Tyletelmis tucuman sp. nov., and Tyletelmis buriti sp. nov.
