Abstract
Chelidamic acid was successively converted to 4-chloropyridine-2,6-dicarboxamide and 4-chloropyridine-2,6-dicarbonitrile, and reaction of the latter with 2-aminoacetaldehyde diethyl acetal afforded 4-chloro-2,6-bis(1H-imidazol-2-yl)pyridine which is a promising tridentate ligand.
