Abstract
Our study, conducted among refugees and Ugandans in Uganda's Rhino Camp refugee settlement, comprehensively explored the relationships between satisfaction of basic psychological needs and psychological well-being. Two hundred fifty refugees and Ugandans each participated. Data were analyzed using structural equation modeling. Findings revealed significant associations between refugees' psychological well-being and the fulfillment of autonomy needs. The well-being of host country nationals was tied to the satisfaction of autonomy and relatedness. Notably, the fulfillment of competence needs did not affect the well-being of either group. However, a self-generated formative index assessing adjustment emerged as a predictor of well-being among refugees and locals.
