Abstract

Psychiatric emergency departments are often on the front line to evaluate and treat isolated and precarious migrants. After a short documented review about the specific needs for psychiatric care within this particularly vulnerable population, we share the experience of the Psychiatric Orientation and Reception Center (CPOA) in Paris; we give the preliminary results of a retrospective study concerning access to care for migrant patients suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder; and we describe a specific care offer set up for the benefit of this population. However, we keep in mind that an overspecialized sector is also at risk of becoming a relegation sector.
