Abstract

With its rapid course and dismal prognosis, kidney cancer poses serious oncology issues. The only therapy that may be curative is surgical resection, although this procedure has significant morbidity and necessitates meticulous postoperative care. After surgery, the duration of hospital stay (LOS) is a crucial indicator of clinical results and resource use. Understanding the variables that contribute to prolonged hospital stays is crucial for improving patient care since both organizational and patient-related factors can have a major impact on LOS. This work employs a data-driven approach to examine factors impacting LOS following surgery. Results show that illness severity plays the most significant role in contributing to the increased LOS, therefore posing serious concerns on how to implement strategies to reduce waiting lists and on-time as well as early diagnosis of the disease in order to make appropriate and rapid intervention to both reduce the LOS and improve the healthcare outcome.
