Abstract

In a recent study of the subfamily Lecithasterinae, we proposed a new genus to accommodate a new species and several previously described species. It has been brought to our attention that the new genus Opistholecithum Vainutis & Voronova, 2025 is a junior homonym, with Opistholecithum Baer, 1970 having priority. We here erect a new genus Alloopistholecithum n. g. to distinguish it from the dicrocoeliid genus Opistholecithum Baer, 1970. Eleven new combinations were provided. Additionally, we clarified the geographic distribution for Alloopistholecithum sandugaense (Vainutis & Voronova, 2025) n. comb.

In order to maintain high standards, all contributors describing new taxa are asked to state clearly where the holotype is deposited and to make paratypes available for examination by the referees. It is recognized that, in some cases, this may cause problems for the authors, but it is hoped that by adhering to this rule authors may be protected against rapid synonymy of their taxa, and the types will be preserved for posterity.
