Abstract
The large amount of heavy metals contained in solid waste poses a challenge to its harmless recycling. In order to solve the environmental problems caused by heavy metals in solid waste and achieve the resource utilization of solid waste, high-temperature reconstruction can be used to prepare glass-ceramics from solid waste. Glass-ceramics have been used in various high value-added fields due to the high mechanical strength, high acid and alkali resistance, etc. In this paper, the preparation methods, the effects of chemical composition, heat treatment, crystalline core agents on the structure and properties of glass-ceramics are systematically reviewed. Solidification and volatilization are two processes related to heavy metal migration during the preparation of glass-ceramics, and the mechanisms of solidification and volatilization are analyzed. Both traditional and innovative applications are introduced in this review. Moreover, a discussion is conducted on the prospects and challenges of different preparation processes and applications.
期刊介绍:
The Journal of the European Ceramic Society publishes the results of original research and reviews relating to ceramic materials. Papers of either an experimental or theoretical character will be welcomed on a fully international basis. The emphasis is on novel generic science concerning the relationships between processing, microstructure and properties of polycrystalline ceramics consolidated at high temperature. Papers may relate to any of the conventional categories of ceramic: structural, functional, traditional or composite. The central objective is to sustain a high standard of research quality by means of appropriate reviewing procedures.
