Abstract
The first total synthesis of the alkaloid brevianamide S has been achieved in eight steps. This natural product, isolated from Aspergillus versicolor, exhibits selective antibacterial activity against Bacille Calmette-Guérin (BCG), a commonly used surrogate for Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
