Abstract

The paper presents a study of methods of winding of optical fiber for a mode-locked laser based on the nonlinear polarization rotation (NPR) effect in order to maximize stability of pulsed radiation to external temperature changes. Numerical simulation of pulse propagation in the fiber system of a pulse generator based on the NPR effect confirmed the advantage of volumetric winding over conventional flat winding. Various options of fiber laser resonator geometry are considered experimentally, and optimal parameters of fiber bends are found to ensure long-term stability of output radiation to changes in external temperature.
