Abstract
A mixed Galerkin approximation for the Stokes problem is proposed. The finite element approximation is used for the velocity and the polynomial spectral approximation for pressure. The numerical results show that the proposed method has higher accuracy for a problem with a large external force, and efficiency in solving the resultant linear system using an iterative solver.
