Specifically, oncogenic circRNAs modulate CSC behavior via key signaling pathways, thereby promoting CSC self‑renewal and maintenance, as well as tumor progression. This review summarizes the latest research on the functional roles and regulatory mechanisms of circRNAs in CSC behavior and discusses potential applications and challenges of targeting circRNAs in CSCs. Abstract

Cancer stem cells (CSCs) represent a small, yet pivotal subpopulation of tumor cells that play significant roles in tumor initiation, progression and therapeutic resistance. Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are a distinct class of RNAs characterized by their closed‑loop structures, lacking 5' to 3'ends.
