Abstract
A series of 4-amino-1,3,5-triaryl-1H-pyrrol-2(5H)-ones have been synthesized by acylation of arylacetonitriles with arylacetyl chlorides, followed by intramolecular cyclization in the presence of potassium hydroxide. The synthesized compounds have been evaluated for their antibacterial and antitumor activities; among them, derivatives containing alkyl and alkoxy groups in the aryl fragments at positions 1, 3, and 5 of the pyrrole ring turned out to be the most active.
