Abstract
2-Chloro-N-[3-methyl-1-(pyridin-4-yl)-1H-pyrazol-5-yl]acetamide (2) was synthesized from 3-methyl-1-(pyridin-4-yl)-1H-pyrazol-5-amine (1) and chloroacetyl chloride in DMF under reflux condition in a straightforward and very efficient process. New pyrazole derivatives were synthesized from compounds 1 and 2 and were characterized by elemental analysis, IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and mass spectroscopy. The antimicrobial activity of the synthesized compounds was evaluated against a variety of bacterial and fungal species in comparison to streptomycin and nystatin, respectively.
