Abstract

Gratitude is a powerful emotion. In healthcare, where patients and families navigate the complexities of illness and recovery, expressing gratitude can become a significant force for healing and connection. The DAISY Award, established to honor the extraordinary compassion and skill of nurses, has become a conduit through which patients and families can articulate their appreciation. This column explores how expressions of gratitude facilitate healing for patients and families, highlight meaningful care attributes, and foster a deeper connection to the healthcare organization.
